Education

Education

Formal study in government, political economy, history, finance, analytics, and financial planning has shaped how I frame economic and investment questions.

Academic work

Several disciplines, one continuing set of questions

Harvard University | Bachelor of Arts, Government

Undergraduate study in government provided a foundation in political institutions, policy, political behavior, and the way public decisions are made.

University of Oxford | Advanced Diploma, Local History

Historical study deepened my interest in institutions, place, primary evidence, continuity, and the limits of drawing simple lessons from the past.

Harvard University | Master of Liberal Arts, Government

Graduate work in government, including international political economy, reinforced the connection between markets, policy, trade, institutions, and political incentives.

Harvard Law School Executive Education | International Finance

Study of international finance, policy, regulation, and transactions added a legal and institutional lens to cross-border financial questions.

Harvard Business School Online | CORe

Economics for Managers, Financial Accounting, and Business Analytics strengthened the connection between economic reasoning, financial statements, data, and managerial decisions.

Boston University | Certificate in Financial Planning

Formal financial-planning study added a household and planning perspective to work that had long centered on investments and portfolio management.

Why it matters

Education as a way to widen the frame

The value of multidisciplinary study is not the ability to attach more labels to a biography. It is the ability to recognize when a market question is really a policy question, when a business problem is really an incentives problem, or when a current event needs a longer historical comparison.
